Ingredients
  

  • 3/4 – 1 cup grated coconut
  • 2 – 3 red chillies
  • 4 tsp urad dal
  • 4 – 5 curry leaves or 1/4 tsp coriander seeds
  • A small marble sized tamarind
  • 1/2 tsp cooking oil
  • Salt as per your taste

Ingredients for tempering:

  • 2 tsp cooking oil
  • 1 red chilli
  • 1/4 tsp mustard seeds
  • Big pinch asafoetida

Instructions
 

  • Take a frying pan, add 1/2 tsp oil, red chilli and urad dal. Fry until urad dal turns slightly brown.
  • Add in curry leaves or coriander seeds, fry for a while and switch off the stove.
  • Grind grated coconut, fried urad dal, fried curry leaves or coriander seeds, fried red chilli, salt and tamarind using required water.
  • Temper it with oil, red chilli, mustard seeds and asafoetida. Serve it with dosa or idli.
