
Makki Ka Halwa Winter Special | Corn Halwa
Makki Ka Halwa is a rich, traditional North Indian dessert made from maize flour, ghee, and jaggery, often enjoyed during winter months. Slow-cooked to perfection, it has a warm, nutty flavor and a soft, melt-in-mouth texture, making it a comforting and nourishing seasonal treat.
Ingredients
For Halwa
- Ghee (घी) – ½ cup
- Semolina (सूजी) – 1 tbsp
- Gram Flour (बेसन) – 1 tbsp
- Cornflour (मक्की आटा) – 1 cup
- Nuts chopped (ड्राई फ़्रूट्स) – handful
- Cardamom powder (ईलीची) – a pinch
- Rose water, optional (गुलाब जल) – 1 tbsp
For Syrup
- Sugar (चीनी) – 1 cup
- Water (पानी) – 1 cup
Instructions
- In a pan mix together sugar & water and give it a quick boil and turn off the heat and keep the syrup aside.
- Heat a new pan and pour ghee. Once hot add suji and besan and keep stirring till besan gives out a pleasing roasted aroma. Do this on medium heat. No immediately add the Makki ka atta and stir it. Keep cooking & stirring till it turns to a dark shade of brown. Once it reaches this stage add the thin sugar syrup and cook on low heat till it starts to thicken.
- Add chopped dried fruits and some rose water. Rose water here is optional. Once it reaches a thick consistency Makki Ka Halwa is ready. Serve it hot.
