For Halwa
- Ghee (घी) – ½ cup
- Semolina (सूजी) – 1 tbsp
- Gram Flour (बेसन) – 1 tbsp
- Cornflour (मक्की आटा) – 1 cup
- Nuts chopped (ड्राई फ़्रूट्स) – handful
- Cardamom powder (ईलीची) – a pinch
- Rose water, optional (गुलाब जल) – 1 tbsp
For Syrup
- Sugar (चीनी) – 1 cup
- Water (पानी) – 1 cup
In a pan mix together sugar & water and give it a quick boil and turn off the heat and keep the syrup aside.
Heat a new pan and pour ghee. Once hot add suji and besan and keep stirring till besan gives out a pleasing roasted aroma. Do this on medium heat. No immediately add the Makki ka atta and stir it. Keep cooking & stirring till it turns to a dark shade of brown. Once it reaches this stage add the thin sugar syrup and cook on low heat till it starts to thicken.
Add chopped dried fruits and some rose water. Rose water here is optional. Once it reaches a thick consistency Makki Ka Halwa is ready. Serve it hot.
