Makki Ka Halwa Winter Special | Corn Halwa

Ingredients
  

For Halwa

  • Ghee (घी) – ½ cup
  • Semolina (सूजी) – 1 tbsp
  • Gram Flour (बेसन) – 1 tbsp
  • Cornflour (मक्की आटा) – 1 cup
  • Nuts chopped (ड्राई फ़्रूट्स) – handful
  • Cardamom powder (ईलीची) – a pinch
  • Rose water, optional (गुलाब जल) – 1 tbsp

For Syrup

  • Sugar (चीनी) – 1 cup
  • Water (पानी) – 1 cup

Instructions
 

  • In a pan mix together sugar & water and give it a quick boil and turn off the heat and keep the syrup aside.
  • Heat a new pan and pour ghee. Once hot add suji and besan and keep stirring till besan gives out a pleasing roasted aroma. Do this on medium heat. No immediately add the Makki ka atta and stir it. Keep cooking & stirring till it turns to a dark shade of brown. Once it reaches this stage add the thin sugar syrup and cook on low heat till it starts to thicken.
  • Add chopped dried fruits and some rose water. Rose water here is optional. Once it reaches a thick consistency Makki Ka Halwa is ready. Serve it hot.
