Ingredients
- 1/2 cup toor dal
- 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
- 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 onion chopped
- 7 – 8 curry leaves
- 1 green chilli
- 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
- 1 tomato chopped
- 1/4 tsp turmeric
- 1 tsp red chilli powder
- 1/2 tsp garam masala powder
- 1 tsp salt (or as per your taste)
- 1 tbsp cooking oil
- 1 tbsp coriander leaves
Instructions
- Rinse toor dal.
- Add in a cup of water, few drops of oil and big pinch of turmeric.
- Cook until soft by making 3 – 4 whistles.
- Heat a tbsp of oil. Prepare tempering with mustard seeds and cumin seeds.
- Next add in chopped onion, green chillies and some curry leaves. Fry until onions turn soft.
- Next add in ginger garlic paste (or chopped ginger and garlic). Give a quick mix.
- Followed by add in chopped tomato. Fry until tomatoes are soft.
- Add in red chilli powder.
- Add in garam masala powder. Give a quick mix.
- Add in cooked dal and required water.
- Add in salt as per taste.
- Bring it to boil.
- Switch off the stove. Sprinkle corinder leaves. Serve it with hot steaming rice or chapati.
