Warm Grilled Red Cabbage Slaw
This unique slaw recipe takes a departure from Grandma's traditional style, featuring warm grilled red cabbage infused with the tangy notes of apple cider vinegar, complemented by the sweetness of maple syrup and the refreshing addition of green apples. Simple ingredients, easy to make, and I think you will find yourself coming back for more and more! It holds well for a few days in the fridge. Warm up leftovers or just eat cold as we do!
Ingredients
- 1 medium white onion, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 Granny Smith apple – peeled, cored and chopped
- 3 tablespoons maple syrup
- 3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 1 ½ teaspoons garlic powder
- 1 ½ teaspoons onion powder
- 1 head red cabbage, shredded
- ⅓ cup chopped fresh parsley
Instructions
- Heat grill to medium high heat to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
- Pour olive oil into a grill pan and sauté onion for 2 minutes. Add chopped apples, maple syrup, apple cider vinegar, garlic powder, and onion powder to the grill pan and stir until mixed.
- Reduce heat to low at 300 degrees F (150 degrees C). Add red cabbage to the grill pan and cook until cabbage is wilted and lightly tender, about 15 minutes.
- Remove from heat and add parsley. Enjoy warm.
