
Veg Momos without Maida Dipping Sauce | Dimsum without shell
This innovative take on traditional momos or dimsum replaces the refined flour (maida) shell with a healthier alternative or skips the wrapper entirely. The filling, made from finely chopped or grated vegetables, is steamed or sautéed and served with a spicy dipping sauce. Ingredients
For Filing
- Oil (तेल) – 3 tbsp
- Garlic (लहसुन), Chopped – 1 tbsp
- Ginger (अदरक), Chopped – 1 tbsp
- Onion, chopped (प्याज़) – ½ cup
- Carrot, chopped (गाजर) – ½ cup
- Cabbage (पत्ता गोभी), Chopped – 1½ cup
- Mushroom (मशरूम), Chopped – ½ cup
- Green Chillies (हरी मिर्च), Chopped – 1 no
- Paneer (पनीर), Mashed – ½ cup
- Beans, chopped (बीन्स) – ½ cup
- Salt (नमक) – To taste
- Pepper Powder (काली मिर्च) – ½ tsp
- Spring Onion (हरा प्याज), Chopped – ½ cup
- Cornstarch (कॉर्न स्टार्च) – 1 tbsp
- Butter ( मक्खन) – 1 tbsp
For Momo Shell
- Spinach Leaves (पालक) – 1 bunch
- Boiling water (उबलता पानी) – 1 lt
- Iced water (ठंडा पानी) – 1 lt
- Oil (तेल) – a dash
Chilli Soya Dip
- Chilli flakes (कुट्टी मिर्च) – ¼ cup
- Garlic, finely chopped (लहसुन) – 1½ tbsp
- Spring onions chopped (हरा प्याज़) – ½ cup
- Coriander, chopped (धनिया पत्ता) – ¼ cup
- Salt (नमक) – to taste
- Vinegar (सिरका) – 1 tbsp
- Oil (तेल) – ¼ cup
- Soy Sauce (सोया सॉस) – 4 tbsp
- Water (पानी) – a dash
Instructions
- Momos is that one dish which we all love, and you shouldn’t be guilty for enjoying what you love. So, for that, let’s make the healthiest momos ever, that too with the goodness of Spinach.For palak Patta momos without Maida, For making the filling, you have to chop the vegetables very finely or you could even grate it. So, in a hot pan, add some oil, heat it, then add finely chopped garlic & ginger, then stir it a little. Now add finely chopped onion and roast it for a while. Then add chopped carrot, cabbage, mushroom, green chillies, mashed paneer and beans then toss it well. You don’t have to cook it all the way; vegetables should have a little bite.
- Now add some soy sauce, vinegar and spring onions. Now in a bowl make a slurry of cornstarch and water, then add it to the filling. Now towards the end add a little butter to it. It will definitely increase the flavour of the filling. Cool the mixture down completely.Now in a saucepan add some water and boil it. Dip the spinach leaves in the hot water for 5 seconds then take it out and immediately dip it in cold water to stop the cooking process. Do the same with all the leaves.Now let’s fill it. Take a ladle, lightly oil it on the inside, place the blanched lead on it. Make sure that the Then fill the filling then press it. We'll get a great round shape.Place the dimsum in a steamer and take them out hot. Serve them hot with chilli soya dip and enjoy!
- For chilli soya dip, in a bowl, add chilli flakes, garlic, spring onion, coriander leaves, salt to taste, vinegar, and soya sauce. You can add a dash of water, mix it and leave it for 10 minutes.Chilli soya dip is ready, enjoy it with your momos or anything you love!
