Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb Ground beef or lamb
  • 1 Onion (finely chopped)
  • 2 Bread slices (soaked in milk)
  • 2 tbsp Curry powder
  • 2 cloves Garlic (minced)
  • 2 tbsp Chutney
  • 1/4 cup Raisins
  • 1/4 cup Almonds (slivered)
  • 1 tbsp Lemon juice
  • 1 Egg
  • 1/2 cup Milk
  • Salt and pepper – to taste

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large skillet, sauté the chopped onion until soft. Add the minced garlic and curry powder, cooking for another minute until fragrant.
  • Add the ground meat to the skillet, cooking until browned. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Squeeze out the excess milk from the soaked bread and add the bread to the meat mixture, stirring to combine.
  • Stir in the chutney, raisins, almonds, and lemon juice. Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg and milk. Pour over the meat mixture in the baking dish.
  • Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until the topping is set and golden brown.
  • Serve the Bobotie hot, accompanied by yellow rice and chutney
