Salvadoran Cóctel de Conchas Recipe

Cóctel de Conchas is usually served with crackers, extra lemon juice, and plenty of hot chili peppers.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 lbs Fresh clams (cleaned)
  • 1/2 cup Lime juice
  • 1/4 cup Lemon juice
  • 2 Tomatoes (diced)
  • 1/2 Red onion (finely chopped)
  • 1/4 Fresh cilantro (chopped)
  • Hot sauce (optional) – to taste
  • Salt and pepper – to taste

Instructions
 

  • Steam the clams in a large pot until they open. Remove from heat and let cool.
  • Remove the clams from their shells and chop them into bite-sized pieces.
  • In a large bowl, combine the clam meat, lime juice, lemon juice, tomatoes, red onion, and cilantro.
  • Stir in hot sauce, salt, and pepper to taste.
  • Chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour before serving.
  • Serve cold, garnished with additional cilantro if desired.
