Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup grated coconut
  • 1 – 2 red chili
  • 2 tsp urad dal
  • 2 tsp gram dal or chana dal
  • 1/4 tsp coriander seeds
  • A small marble sized tamarind
  • 1/2 tsp cooking oil
  • Salt as per your taste

Ingredients for tempering:

  • 2 tsp cooking oil
  • 1 red chili
  • 1/4 tsp mustard seeds
  • 4 curry leaves
  • A pinch of asafoetida

Instructions
 

  • Take a frying pan, add 1/2 tsp oil and heat it. Add in red chili, gram dal, coriander seeds and urad dal. Fry until dal turns slightly brown.
  • Grind grated coconut, fried ingredients, salt and tamarind using required water.
  • Temper it with oil, red chilli, curry leaves, asafoetida and mustard seeds. Serve it with dosa or idli.
