Iranian Kotlet (Meat Patties) Recipe
Kotlet has been a beloved dish in Persian cuisine for generations. It is one of the country's most popular foods, frequently served at family gatherings, holidays, and special occasions, either as an appetizer or as part of a main meal.
Ingredients
- 4 Potatoes – peeled and boiled
- 1/2 lb Ground beef or lamb
- 1 Onion (finely chopped)
- 2 Eggs
- 1/2 Bread crumbs
- 1 tsp Turmeric
- Salt and pepper – to taste
- Vegetable oil – for frying
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mash the boiled potatoes until smooth.
- Add ground beef or lamb, chopped onion, eggs, bread crumbs, turmeric, salt, and pepper to the mashed potatoes. Mix well to combine.
- Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape them into oval or round patties.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Fry the Kotlet patties in the hot oil until golden brown and crispy on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Remove the Kotlet from the skillet and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
- Serve the Kotlet hot, accompanied by rice, bread, or salad.
