
Instant Moong Dal Halwa | Quick Easy Halwa Recipe
This quick version of the traditional Moong Dal Halwa delivers the same rich, nutty flavor with less effort and time. Made using moong dal flour or pre-cooked dal, ghee, sugar, and aromatic cardamom, it’s a warm, indulgent dessert perfect for festivals or last-minute sweet cravings.
Ingredients
- Moong dal, no skin (मूंग दाल) – ½ cup
- Ghee(घी)- 3 tbsp
- Sooji (सूजी) – 1 tbsp
- Besan (बेसन) – 1 tbsp
- Rose water (गुलाब जल) – 2 tsp
- Nuts (ड्राई फ्रुट) chopped – handful
For Syrup
- Water (पानी) – 1 cup
- Sugar (चीनी) – ½ cup
- Cardamom powder (इलायची पाउडर) – ½ tsp
- Milk (दूध) – ½ cup
Instructions
- Roast the moong dal on low flame, till it gets a darker shade of brown. Be sure to stir it constantly or else it won’t get brown evenly.At the same time in a pan, add water and sugar to make a thin sugar syrup. Add cardamom powder to it and add milk when the sugar is dissolved. Now, cool down and grind the moong dal in two batches so that it gets ground evenly.
- In a pan, heat some ghee and then add the ground moong dal, sooji, and besan, then roast it thoroughly. Now, add the sugar syrup into it and stir it well for a few minutes until it thickens. Note – this recipe makes 500 grams (approx.) of Moong Dal Halwa using 1/2 cup moong dal Dhuli.
