
How to Make Perfect French Fries
French Fries are crispy, golden potato sticks made by deep-frying thinly sliced or cut potatoes. They are usually seasoned with salt and served hot as a snack or side dish. Popular worldwide, they can be enjoyed plain or paired with dips like ketchup, mayonnaise, or cheese sauce. Simple yet addictive, French Fries are a fast-food favorite and comfort food staple.
Ingredients
- 2kg Potato Large
- For Deep Frying Oil
- 1tbsp Salt
For Spice Mix
- 1tbsp Mint Powder
- 1tbsp Chilli flakes
- 1tbsp Chaat masala
- 1tsp Salt
Instructions
For Spice Mix
- Mix all the 4 ingredients and keep aside.
For the Potato Fries
- Peel the potatoes. Cut them lengthwise into quarter of an inch slice. Then place the slices flat on the chopping board and cut them again lengthwise at quarter of an inch into the finger size fries. Soak the fries in water for 2-3 hours in a refrigerator. This will release any excess starch from the potato, making them crispy later.
- Remove the fries from water and put onto a kitchen towel and pat them dry completely. Boil 3lts water and add 1tbsp salt. Add the fries in boiling water and cook till they are about 80% cooked.
- At this stage you can fry them in hot oil till they turn golden brown in colour and serve them tossed in salt of the spice mix.
- The other way is to cool them completely after boiling. Put them in a plastic bag and deep freeze them for a day. At any time, you need to eat fries simply add the frozen fries without thawing straight from the freezer to hot oil. Cook till they are golden brown.Remove and immediately toss in salt and serve.
