Frito Pie
Frito pie is a classic appetizer option that's ideal for the football season, and you can easily personalize it by substituting ingredients.
Ingredients
Chili
- 1/2 pound ground beef
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 1 tablespoon chili powder, or to taste
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 cup chili beans
Toppings
- 1/4 cup diced onion, or as needed
- 1/4 cup sliced jalapeno, or to taste
- 1 cup sharp Cheddar cheese, or as needed
- 1 (9.25ounce) bag corn chips, such as Fritos® Scoops!®
Instructions
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook and stir ground beef in the hot skillet until browned and crumbly, 5 to 7 minutes. Drain and discard grease. Stir in water, tomato paste, chili powder, cumin, onion powder, and garlic powder. Stir in beans; cook until heated through, about 3 minutes.
- Divide corn chips into 4 bowls, top with the chili mix, then sprinkle with diced onions, jalapeño slices, and Cheddar cheese. Serve immediately.
