Fried Flour Tortilla Chips
Crafting your own flour tortilla chips is a breeze with this uncomplicated recipe! Our initial encounter with these delights occurred during a Caribbean vacation, and since then, we've come to favor them over store-bought corn tortilla chips.
Ingredients
- vegetable oil for frying
- 8 (10 inch) flour tortillas, each cut into 8 triangles
Instructions
- Gather all ingredients.
- Heat 1/2 inch of oil in a heavy 10-inch skillet over medium heat until 360 degrees F (182 degrees C), about 8 minutes.
- Lower tortilla triangles carefully into the hot oil in batches; fry, turning frequently, until golden brown, about 2 to 3 minutes. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain. Repeat with remaining tortilla triangles.
Notes
We have determined the nutritional value of oil for frying based on a retention value of 10% after cooking. Amount will vary depending on cooking time and temperature, ingredient density, and specific type of oil used.
