Dutch Pepernoten Recipe
Pepernoten has deep roots as a fertility symbol; traditionally, families with newborns would place carrots under the baby’s pillow to attract Sinterklaas, who would then bless the child by showering them with pepernoten. It is also a tradition to throw pepernoten into rooms full of children, who eagerly search for the treats.
