Ingredients

  • 12 no. or 2 tablespoons Almonds
  • 15 no. or 3 tablespoons Cashew nuts
  • 8 Dates seeds removed and roughly chopped
  • 2 tablespoons Raisins
  • ½ cup Desiccated coconut
  • 1 tablespoon Ghee (Clarified butter)
  • 1-2 teaspoons Water if needed

Instructions

  • Powder the nuts: Take almonds and cashews in the jar. Pulse it to grind coarse powder.
  • Add & grind dry fruits: Now add dates, raisins and dry coconut. Again, pulse it to make a coarse mixture.
  • Pulse with ghee: Now add ghee. Again, start pulsing and it should come together like a dough. If not then you can a teaspoon of water at a time, pulse and see.
  • Shape: Remove the mixture to plate. Grease the mould using ghee and start shaping into modak. Usually, keep the mould close, start stuffing and pressing tightly from the bottom hole. Then smooth out the bottom surface and after that, open and unmould.

Notes

  • Here I am using Indian style Preethi brand mixer grinder. This would not work in BendTec or Vitamix type of blender. If you don’t have an Indian style grinder then you should use a food processor.
  • Don’t have modak mould? No worries shape into ladoo.
