Ingredients
  

  • 15-20 doddapathre leaves / Indian borage leaves
  • 1 big onion (1/2 for grinding and 1/2 for frying)
  • small marble sized tamarind
  • 1 cup grated coconut
  • 1 tsp sambar powder / rasam powder / (1/2 tsp red chili + 1/2 tsp coriander + 1/4 tsp cumin)powder
  • 3 tsp cooking oil
  • Salt as per your taste.

Instructions
 

  • Wash and pat dry doddapathre leaves. Heat a frying pan, add 1 tsp of oil and fry the leaves till they are soft. Grind fried leaves, grated coconut, half portion of chopped onions, tamarind and rasam powder adding little water.
  • After grinding, heat a frying pan, add 2 tsp of oil and fry the remaining half portion of chopped onions.
  • When the onions turn translucent, add ground paste, salt and water. When it starts boiling switch off the stove. Serve this mouth watering chutney and ghee with rice, chapathi, dosa or idli.
