Instructions
- For churros, in a saucepan, combine water, sugar, and butter. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the butter is melted. Reduce the heat to low and add all-purpose flour. Stir vigorously until the mixture forms a smooth dough and pulls away from the sides of the pan. This typically takes about 1-2 minutes. Remove the saucepan from heat and let the dough cool slightly.
- Once the dough has cooled a bit, add eggs one at a time, stirring well after each addition. Ensure that each egg is fully incorporated before adding the next. Mix in vanilla extract and cinnamon powder until well combined.
- Heat oil in a deep pan or Kadhai over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (180°C).Transfer the churros dough into a piping bag fitted with a star tip. Pipe 4–5-inch strips of dough into the hot oil, using kitchen scissors to cut the dough from the piping bag.
- You can give it desired shapes as well. For heart shaped churros, take a printout of the heart shape and then align a butter paper on it. Stick the butter paper with the printout using a tape. Now, you can use it as a stencil. Pipe the dough on the butter paper and put it in the freezer for an hour. Drop the frozen churros into the hot oil.
- Fry the churros until they are golden brown and crispy, usually about 2-3 minutes per side. Fry them in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan.Once fried, remove the churros from the oil using a slotted spoon and drain them on paper towels to remove excess oil.
- In a shallow bowl, mix together cinnamon powder and fine-grain sugar. While the churros are still warm, roll them in the prepared cinnamon sugar mixture until they are evenly coated.Serve the churros immediately while they are still warm and crispy. Enjoy it with some strawberry chocolate sauce.
- For Strawberry chocolate sauce, Wash and hull the strawberries, then chop them into small pieces. In a blender or food processor, blend the chopped strawberries along with sugar until smooth. In a saucepan, combine milk, vanilla flavouring, and cornstarch. Whisk until the cornstarch is fully dissolved. Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly, until it thickens and comes to a gentle simmer. This should take about 5 minutes. Add the chopped white chocolate to the thickened milk mixture and stir until the chocolate is completely melted and the sauce is smooth and creamy.Once the chocolate sauce has cooled slightly, gently fold in the strawberry puree until well combined. Add a few drops of pink food colour if desired, to enhance the colour.Churros with strawberry chocolate sauce are ready to be served hot! Happy Valentine’s Day!
