Bread Pakora Chaat | Tawa Bread Pakora with Less Oil
Bread Pakora Chaat is a flavorful and healthier twist on the classic Indian street snack. Instead of deep-frying, the bread pakoras are pan-cooked on a tawa with minimal oil, making them light yet crisp. Stuffed with a spicy potato filling and dipped in gram flour (besan) batter, they are grilled until golden brown.Once cooked, the pakoras are transformed into a chaat-style dish, topped with tangy chutneys, chopped onions, sev, curd (optional), and chaat masala — creating a delicious explosion of crunchy, spicy, tangy, and savory flavors.Perfect as a tea-time snack or light appetizer, this dish combines the comfort of pakoras with the zest of street-style chaat, all while being lower in oil and guilt-free.

Instructions
- Heat oil in a pan and add cumin & coriander seeds. Let them crackle and add ginger, green chilli, boiled & mashed potatoes, salt, red chilli powder, chaat masala, coriander leaves and turmeric. Mix them up well. That’s it. The filling is ready. Transfer it to a plate and let it cool down completely.
- Now, let’s make the batter. In a clean bowl, add besan, salt, chilli powder, turmeric, ajwain, coriander leaves and water. Mix them all well with a whisk to avoid lumps.Take a slice of bread, then spread the filling on it evenly. Place a thin slice of paneer and then top it with another slice of bread to make it a sandwich. Press gently to stick the bread slices together. Repeat this process for all the bread slices and paneer filling to make multiple sandwiches.
- Heat oil in a deep-frying pan or a kadhai over medium heat. Dip each sandwich into the prepared besan batter, ensuring it is evenly coated on all sides.Carefully place the coated pakora into the hot oil and deep fry until it turns golden brown and crispy. Once done, remove the bread pakoras from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil.
- There is one more method to make the pakoras; a little healthy one! Heat a pan or tawa and drizzle the oil. Dip the stuffed bread completely in the batter. Remove and shake off excess batter. Immediately place on the hot pan. Cook for about 3 minutes and then turn the bread. Then using tongs lift the bread pakora and cook on all sides to make sure it is cooked from all sides. Remove and cut into a triangle.
- Let’s assemble it! Cut the pakoras into quarters. Then you just have to pour some sweet curd and drizzle amchur or sweet chutney and mint chutney on the pakoras. Top it up with Sev, anar, coriander and chaat masala and serve.
