French Onion Stuffing Balls
French Onion Stuffing Balls are a flavorful twist on classic stuffing, combining the savory richness of French onion soup with the hearty texture of stuffing.
Ingredients
- 100g butter, chopped
- 4 shortcut bacon rashers, finely chopped
- 200g button mushrooms, thinly sliced
- 2 garlic cloves, crushed
- 1/4 cup finely chopped fresh herbs (such as sage, thyme and parsley)
- 4 1/2 cups fresh breadcrumbs
- 35g sachet salt-reduced French onion soup mix
- 2 eggs, lightly beaten
- 8 thin slices prosciutto, halved lengthways
Instructions
- Melt butter in a large frying pan over medium heat. Add bacon and mushroom. Cook, stirring, for 12 minutes or until softened and butter is golden. Add garlic and herbs. Cook for 1 minute or until fragrant. Transfer to a bowl. Cool for 30 minutes.
- Stir breadcrumbs and soup mix into mushroom mixture. Season with pepper.
- Preheat oven to 200C/180C fan forced. Line a baking tray with baking paper.
Notes
- Allow additional time for cooling.
- To stuff a 4kg turkey with the French onion ball mixture, omit 1 egg and all the prosciuttos.
