French Beef Stroganoff Recipe
Beef Stroganoff is a classic French dish featuring sautéed beef in a creamy sauce, typically served over rice or pasta.Although it is traditionally prepared with beef steak, ground beef is often used for convenience, and the dish can be found in French restaurants around the globe.
Ingredients
- 1 lb Beef tenderloin (thinly sliced)
- 1 Onion (finely chopped)
- 1 cup Mushrooms (sliced)
- 3 tbsp Butter
- 2 tbsp All-purpose flour
- 1 cup Beef broth
- 1 cup Sour cream
- 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tbsp Fresh parsley (chopped, for garnish)
- 4 cups Egg noodles (cooked)
- Salt and pepper (to taste)
Instructions
- In a large skillet, melt 2 tbsp of butter over medium-high heat. Add the sliced beef and cook until browned. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
- Add the remaining butter to the skillet. Sauté the chopped onion and sliced mushrooms until soft and golden brown.
- Sprinkle the flour over the onions and mushrooms, stirring to combine. Cook for 1-2 minutes.
- Gradually pour in the beef broth, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens.
- Reduce the heat to low and stir in the sour cream, Dijon mustard, and Worcestershire sauce. Add the cooked beef back to the skillet and simmer for 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve the Beef Stroganoff over cooked egg noodles, garnished with chopped fresh parsley.
