- 1/4 kg pumpkin or sihi kumbalakai
- 2 - 4 red chilies
- 1 tsp ellu or sesame seeds or til
- 2 tbsp roasted gram or gram dal
- small marble sized tamarind
- 1/2 tsp jaggery
- 1/2 cup grated coconut
- Salt as per your taste.
Ingredients for tempering:
- 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
- 1/2 tsp urad dal
- few curry leaves
- 2 tsp cooking oil
Wash, peel and chop the pumpkin.
Transfer it into a cooker. Add in salt, jaggery, tamarind and little water. Cook until pumpkin is soft. I cookd by making 1 whistle.
Meanwhile in a frying pan dry roast red chilies and sesame seeds. If you are using gram dal (kadlebele) then roast that as well. I used roasted gram (hurigadale).
Wait until cooked pumpkin is cool and then grind it along with coconut, fried ingredients and roasted gram (if not using gram dal)
Transfer it into a bowl. Temper it with oil, mustard seeds, curry leaves and urad dal. Serve it with rice or dosa.
