Heat a tsp oil. Fry red chillies and urad dal until urad dal turns slightly brown.
Add in garlic. If you don't like garlic replace it with a big pinch of asafoetida and add it at the end while tempering the chutney.
Add in chopped onion. Fry until onions turn soft.
Add in curry leaves and tomato. Fry until tomatoes turn soft.
Lastly add in grated coconut and roasted gram. Fry everything together for a while and switch off the stove.
Wait until warm and transfer it into a mixie jar. Add in salt as per your taste. Grind it into a fine paste by adding required water.
Temper it with oil, mustard seeds, red chilli and curry leaves. Seerve it with idli or dosa.
