Kepta Duona originated in Lithuania but is also popular in other Baltic countries. Bread is a staple in the Lithuanian diet, and this dish is thought to have been created as a way to use up stale bread. It also provided a new way to enjoy another beloved Lithuanian staple—beer!

- Vegetable oil - as needed
- 2 Garlic cloves
- Salt - as needed
Cut the bread into short strips.
Heat the vegetable oil in a frying pan.
Fry the bread pieces in several batches until golden brown. The oil may need to be refilled.
Drain on paper towels.
Rub the still hot slices of bread with a peeled clove of garlic on all sides and sprinkle generously with salt.
