Instructions

  • First of all, we have to open a coconut. Coconut has 3 natural lines on it, with a rolling pin or a hammer, firmly hit those three lines again and again and the coconut will be cut into 2 equal halves.
  • Now heat the coconut on top of a stove for 30-40 seconds and then insert a small knife in between the shell and the coconut meat and try to remove it from the shell. It is so easy.
Now, cut the fish into half inch slices. Marinate the fish with salt and turmeric and keep it aside.
  • Remove the brown part of the coconut using a peeler. Cut the coconut into small dices to grind it easily. In a mixer grinder jar, add the coconut, dried red chillies, whole coriander seeds, black peppercorns, cloves, cinnamon, cumin, ginger, garlic and one small onion.
Dry grind it on slow speed, then start adding a small amount of water and grind it into a smooth paste.
  • Now in a pan, cook the coconut paste on low flame. Stir it continuously and then cover it with a lid for 5 minutes. Add a little water, salt, sliced onions, slit green chillies, kokum and tamarind water.
Now add the fish into the gravy and rotate the pan to stir it. Cook it for 5 minutes and the fish curry is ready. Serve it hot with some rice and enjoy!
